Services

The scope of my services ranges from hourly advisory services to full-scale project design of more involved renovations. I do not choose clients and projects by size; rather, I look for interesting projects where I can add value through articulating a clear design vision and executing the project through to completion. Stylistically, I lean towards clean and classic interiors executed in a fresh updated way, and this tends to provide the best client match as well (i.e. if you are interested in a very traditional interior or a themed child's room, I would not be the best person for the job!).

Rates
I charge a combination of an hourly fee for all design work (e.g. space planning, furniture/fabric research and selection, meetings with contractors or other team members) and cost plus for any purchasing (no hourly fee is charged once purchasing begins). My proposals are very detailed and will be provided to you following a short meeting at your home to determine your project scope.

Why Use an Interior Designer?
There are several reasons to consider using an interior designer for your projects:

  • To create a unified design vision for your project
  • To tap into the collective research and experience of professionals
  • To obtain access to resources only available "to the trade
  • To save yourself the time and hassle managing a project yourself
Interior Design vs. Architecture
I primarily view a project space from the standpoint of its usability to the occupants, not from the standpoint of the architectural shell. Many of the elements I consider are typically not included on an architect's plans including detailed space planning, finish selections (paint colors, stone/tile), and the relationship of all of the elements in the space to each other (furniture, lighting, fabrics, accessories). I have found that a combination of both points of view leads to a very successful project. Depending on your Township's regulations, you may have to have my drawings reviewed by a licensed architect to obtain a building permit, especially if structural changes are involved.

Testimonials
"Putting an addition on our house was a huge financial and time investment for us. It was so helpful to have Janet leading the way with the ability to turn our vision into reality, and give us the peace of mind that everything would flow and blend when we were finished. She provided input and suggestions in the planning phase that we didn't from the architect or the builder that made a huge difference in our house for the short and long term. She was an invaluable resource for us!"
