In this case I was asked to tackle a long and narrow room (with three major areas of traffic flow running through it) and create a functional space for a busy family with two kids and two dogs. I designed a lounge and reading area by the fireplace and, with the use of the daybed, a second integrated spot for watching television at the other end of the room.
Many of the items in the room were from the original living room (the two leather chairs, brown sofa, drapery, and large TV) and had to be incorporated into the final design. These elements dictated the final color scheme of chocolate and green, and with this base established, I was able to create a fun, functional room which reflected the client's personality and love of interesting materials and layered texture.
